3 THINGS A WRITER SHOULD POST BEFORE THEY’VE PUBLISHED

Social media is the best way to promote your book in 2023, and marketing begins with you! Before you’ve even published your book, you want to start marketing yourself and your story on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. But what should you be posting?

POST ABOUT YOUR WORK-IN-PROGRESS

Use photos to show off your aesthetic, post about certain writing milestones, and get your new readers hyped with title reveals, blurb reveals, and cover reveals! Even posting simple photos of you working at your desk and talking about your progress in the caption makes your readers excited for you and the story you will one day share with them.

CONNECT WITH PEOPLE

This is the perfect time to create a community of readers and writers just like you. Not only will you get insane book recommendations, but you’ll support other indie authors and in turn, the friends you make will support you! I love the relationships I’ve formed from social media, with some of them transitioning into real-life friendships and others just maintaining regular contact online.

POST ABOUT BOOKS YOU’VE READ

The other half to Writergram is Bookstagram, and it’s super easy to get involved if you’re a big reader already! Posting about your favorite books is an excellent way to create a following that would eventually like to read the book you wrote. Bonus points if you read books similar to the one you wrote!
